E: What made you create this type of record?
YK: The energy of that beat! Cartier laced me with production of the elite nature. I'm just saying I hear artist like Twista, Domino, Pimp C and Big L on that beat.
E: Yeah the word play and flow are distinctive, especially coming out of NC. How do you not get caught up in the "So called South Sound" like ATL or MIA?
YK: First off, I'm a huge fan of Bone Thugs N Harmony growing up, their style along with other originators of that MidWest and Texas sound bumped in Wide Awake!
E: Wide Awake...Explain?
YK: Wilson, NC. aka Wide Awake or the "252" shhyt really man it's self explanatory keep your eyes, hears, mind and heart "Wide Awake" in my County, Town or City... Funny thing it's a small town where you can eat and get yours! Ha ha, so cut throat! But when you stop thru eat at Parker's Famous BBQ on HWY 301.
E: What do you want the listener get out of your music?
YK: I hope a lot more then I put in to it, which is everything. I mean my time, heart, soul mix with joy and pain! Authentic sound original lyrics dope flow classic music.
E: How long till the new Mixtape, Single, Album, Video etc...
YK: In the studio finishing up recording, then paperwork, lawyers, marketing budgets etc... (laughs)
